Tech Tip #2: Why You Should Restart Your Computer Regularly

If you're one of those people who just closes the lid and walks away, this one's for you.

Why restarting matters

When you leave your computer running for days or weeks, memory fills up with background processes, updates queue up waiting to install, and small glitches start stacking up. The result is a slow, sluggish, frustrating machine.

What a restart actually does

  • Clears your RAM

  • Installs pending system updates

  • Resets your network connections

  • Closes background apps that have been quietly eating resources

Think of it as a good night's sleep for your machine.

How often should you restart?

At minimum, once a week. If you're a heavy user with lots of browser tabs and programs open at once, every couple of days is even better.

Pro tip: Set a Friday afternoon reminder to restart before the weekend. You'll come back Monday to a faster, fresher computer.
