Is your computer dragging? Before you buy a new one, try these quick wins. Each takes less than five minutes, and together they solve a surprising number of "my computer is so slow" problems we see at the shop.
1. Clear your startup programs
Every app that launches when you turn on your computer eats memory before you even start working.
Windows: Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), go to the Startup tab, and disable anything you don't need running right away.
Mac: Go to System Settings → General → Login Items and remove the extras.
2. Run a disk cleanup
Windows: Search "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu, select your drive, and let it remove temporary files, old downloads and cached data.
Mac: Go to Apple Menu → About This Mac → Storage → Manage to find the space hogs fast.
3. Restart your computer
It sounds too simple, but most people leave their computer running for days or weeks. A fresh restart clears memory and applies updates that are quietly slowing you down.
Try all three today. You might be surprised how much faster things run.
Still sluggish? Let the Tamers take a look.
