Tech Tip #8: Browser Hygiene Tips

If your browser feels sluggish, pages load slowly, or you have 47 tabs open right now, this one's for you.

Clear your cache regularly

Your browser stores temporary files (cache) to load pages faster, but over time that cache gets bloated and actually slows things down. Clear it monthly.

  • Chrome or Edge: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data.

  • Safari: Develop menu → Empty Caches.

Manage your extensions

Every extension you install uses memory and can slow your browser down. Open your extensions menu and remove anything you don't actively use. Fewer is almost always faster.

Tame your tabs

Too many open tabs are a silent performance killer. A tab manager like OneTab (Chrome and Firefox) collapses unused tabs into a list without losing them.

Keep your browser updated

Browser updates include speed improvements and critical security patches. Make sure auto-update is on, or check manually under Settings → About.

A few minutes of browser maintenance makes a big difference in your day.
